Product History  

Bosco Malera is located in Salgareda, a small town in Veneto, North-Eastern Italy. It has since 2009 been part of ViVO, (Viticoltori Veneto Orientale) a massive co-operative which provides an umbrella to over 2,300 wine growers and which has an annual yield of 52,000,000 kilograms.

Prosecco, in North-Eastern Italy, is the country's largest DOC by a long distance. At 14,000 hectares (35,000 acres) it now covers the area from Trieste to Vincenza, and has a surprisingly high permitted yield of 18 tonnes/hectare. Such numbers might indicate an IGT, but the enlargement of the area to encompass the village of Prosecco itself qualified it for DOC status. The name of the grape variety was changed from Prosecco to Glera in 2009, and imitation by other regions or countries was thus prevented.

Prosecco San Vito is made from Glera grapes grown in the Treviso province. It is produced using the Charmat method, fermenting in pressurised autoclaves for 20 days and resting on its lees for a further ten. The wine has delightful fresh floral aromas and a touch of zesty citrus on the palate, and while it would make a fine companion to delicate fish dishes, it would also be perfectly happy drunk on its own.
