Legend speaks of the devil’s attempt to claim Cornwall, sending a fire-breathing dragon carrying a red-hot boulder from hell. Archangel St Michael intervened, battling and triumphing over the dragon at a place now known as Hell’s Stone or Helston. Today, locals celebrate this victory. Pocketful of Stones distills exceptional whisky by first crafting high-quality beer. Using their handmade copper pot still named Jackson, they distill the beer, and the young whisky ages in used oak barrels near St Michael’s Mount. The evaporation during aging, poetically known as the angel’s share, seems fitting with St Michael watching over. The name, associated with the dragon and archangel legend, beautifully encapsulates their unique whisky-making process.
